Giving and Growing
Sometimes looking inside at our suffering and sadness stops us from giving and from growing. Often the best way to heal feelings of hurt inside us is to focus our attention and our actions outside of ourselves.
We can do this by:
Giving our time to others voluntarily
Spending time in nature
Listening actively to someone we might not normally choose to hear from
Learning something new
Supporting a worthy cause
Creative activities of all kinds
Opening our eyes to the reality of those less fortunate
Re-establishing contact with old friends
Making eye contact and smiling at people we pass by
Noticing the beautiful openness of young children
Music, literature, film, exercising, cooking ,gardening and so many other activities we can be involved in
All of these examples and many more give us freedom from our thoughts and distress and can give us positivity and a new perspective.
