Raine Kornfeld B.S.W. (UNSW) DipMan

I’m Raine Kornfeld. I am a counsellor, coach and trainer with nearly forty years of experience in direct client work, management and consulting. My work has primarily been in support of people living with disability, dementia or other chronic health issues and their family carers, and my passion is the development of personal resilience.

At the same time, I have been a family carer for many years of my life, most recently for my daughter who has suffered Myalgic Encephalomyelitis for almost ten years, and previously for my mother whose dementia from mini-strokes claimed her life after six years of illness. My husband and my two daughters are my life and joy.

My commitment to doing my absolute best in all of my roles regardless of personal cost led to a turning point by 2013-4 when I found myself desperate and stressed, almost at breaking point. So I put the shoe on the other foot and imagined how I would help a stressed and desperate carer who came to me. The result was the development of the Becoming Resilient process, which saved my mental health, then my physical health, my family, and now many individuals who have followed this method of building personal resilience. That means understanding deeply the reality of being present to yourself and others, and developing techniques to change the way that you think. In this way you take control of your own thoughts, rather than letting thoughts control you.

These techniques continue to improve and enhance every aspect of my physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. And they can do the same for you.
